This is what I believe...

I believe that I have been able to overcome so many physical & mental obstacles with sheer grit, determination and pure stubbornness.
I am going to focus on the physical obstacles; Knees, hips, correct foot alignment, frozen shoulder. You would not believe the achievements I have been able to celebrate.
How do I do it, I hear you ask.
1.Firstly, I attend studio Pilates, twice a week. These are sessions that are all focused on the Pilates equipment, like the reformer, the barrel, etc, and not the floor. You may think, that this is expensive, but it definitely allows less frequent osteopath visits, less frequent Drs visit and also gives my bones good bone density; 3 benefits in one.
I commit to two sessions a week. No flakey “ oh, I can’t”, “I’m tired”, I’m there. I know it is for the betterment of my health.
It has taught me not only physical strength but mental strength as well. Many fears are based around “ I can’t do that”, and we believe it. We need to stop allowing our nervous system to take over and just do it. Once you have correct coordination, good alignment, strength, just comes naturally.
I have stepped out of my comfort zone over and over again. The stronger I get, the more I step out of that comfort zone.
2. My next must do is, I book a regular massage. This again is a powerful self care time and also another check-in on how my body is responding.
3. Thirdly, I use essential oils & supplements to support any pain and inflammation.
Recently, I had a sacrao-iliac joint issue. It was definitely made worse by the inability to attend my pilates studio during lockdown.
During my recovery, I made a pact with myself. Never allow lockdown to get in the way of your health again!
During this restoration period my Pilates instructor worked on various muscles around this area, that didn’t cause pain in this joint.
My osteopath, after realigning my hips and a few weekly sessions, gave me several exercises to do; which I did religiously, with great effect.
I booked in with my regular massage therapist and she supported this injury to the best of her ability.
I used my essential oils and other muscle supporting supplements to nurture and help support this injury.
Just before Christmas, I invested in a Pilates ball. A big silver one, that I can do my regular core, arm and leg work on. It has been a game changer. It sits in my family room with my weights and mat. I have no excuse, at all.
I have always been a determined type of person. I like to see the jar half full, not half empty. This is the scope of work I like to teach my clients within their Aromatherapy & wellness consultations.
My physical obstacles of injury & illness is just my example, let’s see what your example is.
